MLM's And The Fashion Industry

When we speak of Multi-Level Marketing, we think about selling goods on a personal nature within a social network. Not so much as the customer comes to the product, but more so the product going direct to the consumer. Although this can be a highly advantageous method of selling for all parties concerned, it does however still hold the limitations of being similar to the local store. Another certain flaw also possibly being that the shelves are only stocked by products of a single manufacturer or supplier.

In my research of numerous MLM companies, I have come across one line of products found available by many suppliers that display a characteristic weak spot. The fashion industry has always been renowned for its fickle qualities, and to be quite frank, there is nothing more fickle than the want of a woman to obtaining new clothes, accessories, and jewelry. Although this quality of flighty fancy is a trait that has been associated with women for centuries, it does however come with a certain degree of integrity. This being the desire to stand out from the crowd with a unique sense of exhibition.

Women are of course social creatures, and therefore sometimes make the best representatives for any direct selling business the market has to offer. With regards to selling items of a fashionable nature though, there remains a very prominent Achilles heel. Take for example the ability to sell designer jewelry. A representative can possibly buy the goods, display them at hosting parties where there may be many of their friends, have the items commented upon with a great sense of awe, but nonetheless not make any sales of the goods adorned by the wearer. Why? Well, basically down to one word. Individuality.

You will never see the same two women within a social circle wearing the same garments or accessories. That's a fact, and if it were to happen, it would only be the result of an embarrassing accident that was never intended. Bearing this fundamental rule in mind, if a representative were to sell items of fashionable attributes, they must make sure that the manufacturer or supplier must offer an extensive range of products, in order for the prospect of status collision to be less likely to become manifest.

In relation to these events, I have discovered a certain number of companies who either display a limited amount of products altogether, or display very little at all until the potential representative has at least submitted certain personal information. They may claim also that each piece of say, 'jewelry' for instance, is hand crafted and unique in its own particular way, but to the naked eye at first glance and without close scrutiny, there is obviously no difference with the item, thus instantly eliminating any chance of sole distinction.

It may seem like a good idea at first, being able to sell a product you enjoy and have a passionate interest with, and earning an income from your pursuits in doing so, but this is one line of goods available for selling on the small scale that must be approached with caution. So before signing any agreements and investing your capitol on what might just be another recruitment scam based opportunity, weigh up your options and establish the full scope of products available. And ask yourself honestly, if you were to take on the role of independent representative selling fashion accessories, would you still shop at any large retail outlet chain or expensive designer stores if you had the funds? You know that to be true, and you know it to be true of your friends. Variety is the spice of life, and shopping gives women the ultimate meaning to it.
